We just learned of Lillian’s passing. Please accept our sincere condolences. Lillian sold us our first house in Eagle Oaks, Farmingdale, and we were so grateful for all her expertise. She was such a warm, wonderful person who made us feel so at ease.
Bonnie Woodward left a message on September 8, 2025:
For a good number of years, Lillian along with with my good friend and colon cancer, survivor and champion Michele Bautista, was kind enough to take time out of her schedule and to acknowledge March as Colorectal cancer Awareness month to bring attention to the importance of Life-Saving screening for colon cancer. She presented Red Bank Gastro a proclamation which we have proudly displayed in our office. Well done, good and faithful servant, Lillian will always be iconic in my mind, a can-do kind of gal, the big heart and plenty of integrity and style! She was gracious and generous, she helped many and has left her mark, those who have been lucky enough to cross her path better for it.. I'm sorry to hear of her passing and my heart goes out to her family and loved ones.
Bill and Betty Barnett left a message on September 8, 2025:

I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Lillian at an event I catered a few years back. Lillian was so gracious and so very lovely to take the time to speak with me, and offered any time I needed information or anything about Monmouth County, not to hesitate to call her office. My sincere condolences to Lillian's family, she was such a delightful lady to get to know and I'm grateful that I had that honor.

Linda Jacobsen left a message on September 3, 2025:
I met Lillian during time spent at The Burrowes Mansion Museum in Matawan. She remembered her friends who left the building to the Town as a Museum, which she helped to do. I do believe that her friend’s Spirit was still within the house, as, others who knew her felt her Presence watching over them. We had a lovely time with some Private gossip about an acquaintance of both of ours (to God’s ears), She always presented well, well dressed and pleasant. I remember calling her attention to the most beautiful, delicate bejeweled straight broach that she was wearing. I don’t know what sparkled more, that broach, or her beautiful eyes !! - Linda Jacobsen- (formerly of Laurence Harbor, NJ).

My condolences to all of Lillian’s loved ones. She was a true lady in the purest sense of the word. Her graciousness and kindness extended to everyone. I last saw her at a library function a few years ago and though it had been 20 years since we had seen each other, she didn’t miss a beat. She had the gift of making everyone feel special. May she rest in blessed and deserved peace.

Michele Battista left a message on August 30, 2025:
Lillian Burry was the queen of public servants at the town and county levels, as her principles were above par. Lillian was a role model for anyone looking to enter the political world where many sought her advice and some gained office on her coattails. I started working for Lillian back in 2016, and witnessed a woman whose determination made things happen in Monmouth County. “No” was not an acceptable word in her vocabulary, as her list of accomplishments is lengthy. The plaque at Route 537 East before Route 34 now denotes Lillian’s epitaph, “A Persistence of Vision”. I was honored to have her support for the Friends of the Colts Neck Library where she was instrumental in securing donations and helped design the library interior from its inception. Lillian always presented the Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month proclamation with my Red Bank Gastro advocates, Dr Hampel and Nurse Woodward to raise awareness about the importance of being screened. Lillian was a sounding board for which I will forever be grateful for her advice and being included in her sphere of influence! Rest in peace Boss.

Cousin Lil- was a true fashion icon, a Princess of Delmonico’s and my between Lil & Alba my Aunt Mary's favorite Cousins. What I know for sure is that for the soul there is neither birth nor death, it is eternal & everlasting - like the love we have for Lilliana- I am in Firenze now and upon receiving the news from cousin Alba- it was as if Lil's spirit fluttered throughout the villa- on a new boundless journey! My love to all the family and upon my return to The States- I will hold a dinner at Delmonico's in her honor! Remembering that every time we say her name, her spirit lives on!

Laura D. Kolnoski left a message on August 29, 2025:
My heart is broken, but my life was forever changed for the better the day I met Lillian some 35 years ago. There is no one like Lillian G. Burry, a force of nature and a force for good. It was my privilege and great honor to cover her as a reporter from her first day on the Colts Neck Township Committee to her retirement as a County Commissioner, watching her fight fearlessly and tirelessly to blaze trails and achieve great things for the citizens of Monmouth County and beyond. Along the way, we became dear friends. She was a mentor, role model, confidante, and supportive, generous friend to me, as she was to countless others. She treated everyone the same no matter your station, address, or issue. Truly independent, she would have made a great governor, or president. She was everything you would want an ideal politician/leader to be. You can read about all she accomplished in her obituary, which doesn't even list it all. She did so much for so many, often achieving things others thought impossible. Lil didn't know the meaning of that word. My editors at the Two River Times have graciously allowed me to write a personal recollection of her for next week's edition where I will share cherished fond memories of one of the best, most intelligent, and effective people I have ever had the pleasure and honor to know. Rest in Peace Lil. You earned it. ❤️
