Lorena Da Costa Martins, 90, of Colts Neck, passed away Tuesday surrounded by her family.
Lorena was born in Connecticut and raised in Elizabeth, NJ where she graduated from St. Patrick’s High School. She met the love of her life, Carlos Martins, at the Portuguese club in Elizabeth, and they married on December 3rd, 1955. From there they moved to Union and ultimately moved to Colts Neck in 1973 where they spent 50 years together.
Lorena enjoyed her trips to Portugal with her husband, as well as spending the winter months at their home in Marco Island, Florida, where many family memories were built, with their daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lorena was a dedicated mother and friend, and always put others before herself. She was a fabulous cook and Christmas Eve was a big deal in the Martins house in which she loved to prepare all the traditional Portuguese fare for her family.
Lorena is predeceased by her husband Carlos Martins, and her brother Elisio Da Costa.
Lorena is survived by her children Susan Wilbert and her husband Lee, and Diane Watson; her brother-in-law Joseph Veloso; her beloved grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Kristen and her fiancé Scott Johnson; and her great grandchildren Reid and Aubree.
A mass of Christian burial will be offered Saturday, October 21st at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck. The entombment will be private.
