Rosa Barritta, 84 of Holmdel, passed away Friday January 15, 2021.
Rosa was born and raised in Panaia, Italy and as a child she attended seamstress training. In 1958, she would marry the love of her life and childhood friend Antonio. The two would immigrate to America and start their new life, ultimately settling in Holmdel to raise their young family. Rosa ran her own successful business in Matawan, Rosa’s Tailor Shop. Rosa was unique for her time as she was a fiercely independent woman neither sacrificing child rearing nor work responsibilities, while always having a kind and loving heart for those in need.
Rosa loved the casino, shopping, and dancing, but most of all loved connecting with her family. One of her favorite activities was spending time with her grandchildren while having everyone over for dinner. Rosa was a happy-go-lucky person who always had a smile on her face with gorgeous eyes. Rosa and her husband often returned to their hometown of Panaia where they would spend time seeing family. In the many years spent together they have always shared everything including difficulties, joy, and pain encountered on the path of life – linked by a true and great love.
Rosa is survived by her loving husband Antonio of 62 years, her children Antonette Signorello and husband Joseph Jr. of Roselle Park, Rosann Russo and husband Antimo of Holmdel, Diane Tomasiello and husband Louie of Holmdel, Josephine Santiago and husband Anthony of Long Branch, along with her sister Maria Pugliese of Metuchen, and her beloved grandchildren Joseph III, Rosa, Anthony (predeceased in 2000), Paul, Gabriella, Marc, Avia and Sophia.
At the request of the family, services at the funeral home will be private, with a public mass Monday, January 25th 10:30 am at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.
