Royal J. Comeau, at age73, died June 22, 2011 in Ocala, FL after a short illness. He is a former resident of Adams, MA; West Long Branch, NJ; Fort Lauderdale, FL and Ocala, FL. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Conway and a son, Gerard M. Comeau, Davie, FL and a grandson, Nathaniel D. Martin. His surviving sisters Doris Gardner, Margaret Comeau and Marie Anderson, all live in Adams, MA; his brother-in-law George M. Conway, Jr. and wife, Lorraine as well as nieces Christine Conway-O'Donnell and Michelle Conway-Schiappacasse live in Middletown and his nephew George M. Conway and wife, Stacy, live in Fair Haven. Mr. Comeau is pre-deceased by his son, David Allan Comeau, his sisters Roma Smith and Blanche Comeau and his brothers Bernard and Francis. He has many friends, nieces and nephews both in NJ and MA. He leaves two cats that miss him greatly, Lovey and Sparkle (The Kraken). Royal served in the Air Force for four years before joining the US Coast Guard and found his home. He retired from the USCG in 1982. He went on to train as an electrician and as an A/C Heating and Refrigeration serviceman. He was employed by MWR at Weapon Station Earle. Royal was the chief engineer at the Hilton Hotel, Tinton Falls and Ramada Inn, Hazlet before he retired. He was a life member of the 'Portland Cuttermen's Association.' He was a member of the Oak Run Veterans Association and enjoyed many clubs and activities at Oak Run where he lived. Royal often said 'Even though, Joseph is my middle name I'm no carpenter.' Later in life, he found that he loved doing woodcrafts in his air conditioned garage and many people have been recipients of his dogs, birds, bears and other novelties. He will be remembered for his quiet way and his offbeat sense of humor and his love for his wife of 31 years. A service will be held at Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch on Tuesday, August 2nd from 5 – 7 PM. Interment will be private.
