He was the definition of a great man, the father I never had. Touched so many lives and left a mark on many people. He will be remembered and missed by all. That’s all we can ask for in the end. He showed me what unconditional understanding, forgiveness, and love should be. Forever in our hearts. Rest easy, savage. You earned it. Love you.

I was a Student at the Center School, and myself, Bryan Williams, and Andres Rivera, were almost in constant contact with Mr Savage as he was not only our guidance counselor but also a dear friend and guiding figure in our lives. Although I only spoke to him once since he assisted me moving to Tennessee, I am deeply saddened by his passing, and feel like the world has lost one of its best. I hope that all of you in the extended Savage family know that I/we love Mr Savage extremely and pass our condolences to you.

I have known Tom & Tullis since I was a teenager. Being our youth group mentor, trips to Warwick, and being our son Jimmy's confirmation mentor were my most memorable times. I was truly blessed to have Tom in my life. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tullis and his family.

Tom Savage was one of the most influential people in my life. How many people do you remember the first time you ever saw them? I remember the first time I ever saw Tom. In the fall of 1976, I heard we were getting new leaders for the youth fellowship group at the Colts Neck Reformed Church . A couple named Tom and Tullis Savage I remember I was standing on the steps of the education building when a motorcycle came roaring in off of Village Lane. He stopped a few feet from us, ripped off his helmet, quite a bit of long black hair fell out and he said, “Hi I’m Savage.” I thought to myself, “You sure are buddy, this is going to be a fun year.” Tom wasn’t like anyone else who had ever been a youth group leader. Tom taught me that being a “Cool guy’ and being a “Person of Faith” were not mutually exclusive. I think one of the best things about him was that he wasn’t someone’s parent.. He dressed like us, he liked the same music and was relatable in a different way than anyone I had ever known. We had so many memorable great times. Must notably the winter trips to Warwick. I think that anyone who had the good fortune to be in youth fellowship at that time knew that Tom & Tullis loved them. I hope that they know how much we love them.

Tom was a member of Bayshore Companion Dog Training Club and a friend. He competed in agility with his Corso Max and enjoyed every moment. We worked on committees together and he was always engaged bringing up issues as he saw them. RIP my friend. You will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends.

Tom was staple in the community and the firehouse. He was a kind soul that would give you the shirt off his back . Give you advice that you didnt know you needed to hear and the occasional comments that made you laugh that made you stomach hurt! Thank you tom for being a great friend, father, grandfather and firefighter. You will be missed.
