Debbie Blackburn. We were sad to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a fine lady. She surely lived a full life. Joan will be included in our prayers. Hope all is well with your family with this pandemic. Pax.

I grew up next door to the Horlacher family. To this day, Diane and I are still best of friends. Mrs. Horlacher was such a soft-spoken, kind and inspirational lady. I couldn't begin to list all of the wonderful experiences I had at her home, but will touch upon just a few. Playing kickball in the backyard just outside her kitchen window...dancing to Monkees records in 'the fifth bedroom'...sitting with her while she watched General Hospital. She made her home so welcoming to the friends of her girls. I will be forever grateful for the many wonderful childhood times I had under her watchful and caring eyes. Rest in peace Mrs. Horlacher! <3

When my son Toby was a newborn, my family was invited to a backyard BBQ in Colts Neck by Mr. and Mrs. Horlacher. My family then was my wife Peggy and I and our newborn son Toby. As we were leaving the house, I mistakenly fell down a few stairs while carrying Toby. He of course cried and cried on our way to the BBQ, and then fell fast asleep. I, of course, believed I had critically injured our beautiful new baby. After arriving and being VERY upset, my mom Gina Blackburn and Mrs. Horlacher quickly went into action and took over in checking Toby out, and both of these beautiful ladies confirmed that everything was fine. They might as well have told me I won the lottery. Today Toby has indeed gotten over the event and is a Biochem engineer with a Duke MBA. So the grandmothers were correct, all was fine. In fact later that evening, I was able to enjoy a Wiffle ball game with the Horlacher girls. They seem really nice but often cheat at games such as Wiffle ball. They are known as the "sneaky Horlacher girls." It would seem that much of my life I have known Mrs. Horlacher. She is kind, generous and made the best coleslaw. RIP Mrs Horlacher, you will be greatly missed.

My sincere condolences to the family of Joan Horlacher. I remember her from years ago at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Florham Park, New Jersey. And then again when I had occasion to visit Good Shepherd Church in Holmdel. May the peace and comfort of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
