Ricardo Colón

Ricardo Colón , 59, of Long Branch NJ, died Feb. 25, 2021. He will be sorely missed.

He was known as a gentle, charismatic wallflower in Long Branch. He frequented local businesses on Broadway and made several friendships therein along the way at the Broadway Loan Company and McDonalds.

Many in the community know “Ricky” as a compassionate, kind and tender soul.

He was predeceased by his beloved maternal grandparents: Margarita and Ofidencio Orengo, and his mother and father: Carmen Orengo and Juan Colón .

Surviving are his son Ricardo Colón Jr., his grandchildren Jatiana Colón, Aniya Colón, Ariana Colón and Imeir Colón; his siblings and their spouses Eliezer Colón, Carlos Colón, Misti and Edgardo Colón, Carmen Pacheco, Brenda and Raymond Johnson and Neidel Pacheco; his nieces and nephews: Tasha Pacheco, Kearey Jackson, Kayla Colón, Joseph Pacheco, Christan Colón, and Victor Pacheco and his three great nieces: Laniya Wade, Harmony Johnson and Jayda Johnson, as well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family he cherished and lived for, who feel the same way.

Amazing how the son I had with Ricky in 1985, my beloved Tony, who died of Leukemia in 2011, so young, continued to be forgotten in his "father's" obituary. He was the most beautiful soul . Tony also had a child he left behind, also forgotten and ignored. I called Ricky and begged him to get tested, to see if anyone in 'the family' would get tested, so that my son could find a match for a bone marrow transplant to save his life. Ricky never returned my call. He never even told Ricky Jr he had a brother until after Tony passed. Well, thanks at least for the dna because he was the best thing that ever happened to me and will NEVER be forgotten in OUR world. May God have Mercy on your soul for never doing a thing for my son.

I didn't really get to know you much all I know were things that my husband would tell me but I do know that every time I was around you you were very protective and a beautiful person to be around you treated my daughter like an angel and always give her a lollipop so may you rest in peace and may God be with the family members that have to go through this pain especially through these holidays

My prayers are with family and friends!! ❤️?? Always caring for others! I remember Ricky watching me making sure I was ok walking down Broadway when I was a kid and even now as adult. I will miss that smile!! RIP ?

May you be at peace, Ricky. I am glad your granddaughter met you that one day at McDonalds. It was a random act of chance that both I and Tony never forgot. I truly hope he was there to meet you on the other side. He'll show you the ropes. Blessings and peace to your family.
