I am so incredibly sad to read the news of Mike's passing. His mischievous grin/smile was his trademark and he was a fun, happy, kind guy that everyone loved! He was a devoted friend for more than 30 years and never knew a stranger! Bigger than life and life of the party describes him well! I could always count on him for a hug or a laugh, no matter how long it had been since we had seen each other! He loved and adored his family and would always proudly bring me up to date on Bets and Bobby every time I saw him! They don't make them like Mike Barham anymore..... You will be forever missed Buddy.... RIP my special friend. Mickey, Betsie, Bobby and family ... you are deep in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that the happy memories will help ease your pain. With sincere sympathy, CC

I only knew Michael through my drop ins to Penny Hill for a California Club or Muffuletta. No matter how jammed under pressure the shop may have been, Michael was always smooth and calm while sporting that smiling grin under his signature mustache. He’d survey the crowd and verbally greet recognizable friends and customers. It made us feel special. Mine was “Hey Bob the Wine Guy, which Sub today?” Truth is…it was Michael who was Special.

I’m saddened to hear about the passing of Michael. I always had a good laugh seeing him behind the counter when picking up my weekly Wednesday subs. He and Mickey always made me feel like part of the Penny Hill “family.” He will be missed so much.

What can we say Mike? There are no words that’s will ease everyone’s pain right now. But pain is all you’ve had lately and we know that’s not the kind of Mike we knew. You were a larger than life character, and sadly we don’t get many like you anymore. We loved knowing you and although a lot of our chats were “on line,” we still had a lot of laughs with you. Thanks for the laughs Mike and we bloody well hope there is better than this waiting for you. RIP

Such sad news to hear about Michael! He was probably the first person I met when I started first grade where we became fast friends. He always had a smile and a good word whenever you met - such great memories. I am so sorry for your loss.

I visited Penny Hill Subs about a year ago. Didn't think Michael remembered me but it was like we were old friends. He displayed the subtlety of his humor when he commented "didn't recognize you without the hair". Condolences to the family.

I'm so sorry to be reading this. What a large loss for all the Barhams. Mickey - your other half. I love the nickname Breeze, so fitting. I only have fun happy memories of Michael and I really didn't hang around with him. He and Brian S together. Ha Ha Ha. May he rest in peace.
