Alice T. deSante, 95, of West Long Branch, NJ passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. She was born in Shrewsbury, NJ in 1927 to the late Annie and Daniel Gallivan. She was raised in Shrewsbury and attended and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School.
After graduating, she began working at Progressive Insurance Company in Red Bank, NJ. She met her husband Richard at the Officers Club of Fort Monmouth, they married in 1950 at St. James Roman Catholic Church, moved to Long Branch for a few years, began their family and moved to West Long Branch in 1956. She took a hiatus from working to raise her children and later worked at Honeybee Florist and was a bookkeeper for local plumbers.
Alice was a caring individual with a heart of gold. She enjoyed helping those who needed a lift-people or animals. Alice enjoyed her family and friends, playing bridge, golf, and traveling. She was a devout catholic and parishioner at St. Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her husband Richard K. deSante, and her son-in-law Thomas Wright.
She is survived by her son Rick and his wife Mary Ann deSante of Berwyn, PA, daughter Karen Wright of Charleston, SC & West Long Branch, NJ, grandchildren Jennifer and Colleen, great-grandchildren Alice and Matthew, step-granddaughter Heather Riva, and step great-grandchildren Jackson and Kaitlyn.
The Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, August 12 from 9 am – 10:30 am at Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, 254 Wall Street, West Long Branch.
