Andrew J. Lotano, 75, of Colts Neck, NJ, passed away on November 4, 2025, at home, surrounded by love.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, Andy grew up in Edison and graduated from J.P. Stevens High School. In 1969, he proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.

Following his military service, Andy returned home to join the family business, operating ILR landfill in Edison alongside his siblings. He found deep purpose and fulfillment in this work, and was instrumental in developing renewable energy on the capped landfill, which is now home to more than 24,000 solar panels, and powers local communities through methane export. He took immense pride in this achievement and in the positive impact it continues to make.

Andy was a man of deep faith and generous spirit, he was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Colts Neck and an active volunteer in his community. As a longtime member of Colts Neck Lions Club, he helped bring Braille Trails and sensory playgrounds to local parks—initiatives that reflected his lifelong commitment to inclusion, service, and care for others. His kindness, humility, and compassion will be remembered by those blessed enough to have known him.

Above all else, Andy was a devoted family man. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dawn Lotano; his beloved children Jennifer Nangano (Chris), Jayson Lotano (Linda), Jon Lotano, and Justin Lotano (Chrissy); his siblings Marie Bonk and Gary Lotano (Amy); his step-daughters Kate McLaughlin (David) and Tessa Gardella; and his eight cherished grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. His love for his family was unwavering, and they will carry his warmth, humor, and love with them always.

Andy’s presence was a blessing, and his legacy will endure in the many hearts he touched and the community he helped build.

Visitation will be Friday, November 7th from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, November 8th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck.

Donations can be made in Andy’s name to the Colts Neck Lions Club.

Dear Dawn and Family, Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss I had the privilege of working with Andy for many years with the environmental consulting firm that helped Andy secure approvals for proper closure of the ILR Landfill. With Andy's guidance it was demonstrated that his expert management of the landfill resulted in proection of the valuable ground and surface water resources of the area. I worked for Andy since my career began almost ten years ago. I will always remember his kind and easy-going demeanor. He was a pleasure to talk with and made us feel welcome but also eager to do a good job for him. My condolences go out to his family. May they have the comfort and support that they need, and may he Rest in Peace.

I had the privilege of working for Andy on large environmental projects, and it was one of the real honors of my career. His obituary was like him; modest and understated. Andy was a man of character and integrity who consistently put others first. He dedicated countless hours to helping people with vision needs. He played a leading role in pioneering environmental work that was the very first of its kind in New Jersey. Andy’s humor, generosity, and kindness will be deeply missed. My sincere condolences to his family and all who knew and loved him.

My Pal Andy was the true meaning of “Stand Up” I truly admired his humility and always felt like I was special to call Andy my Friend, God knows he knew everyone. In our industry, guys have a tendency to come on a bit strong (I'm guilty at times) - Never Ever my Friend Andy. We used to talk typically 6 am in the morning (30 seconds business, 25 minutes about life) very similar conversation that I would share with my Dad. I will miss my Dear Friend Andy immensely. I was always impressed with Andy’s total commitment to serving the community, those less fortunate than him, friends, and family. As a fellow member of the Colts Neck Lions Club I had a front row seat to the works of this great man. Always giving of his time for others. The world lost a great one.
