Andrew M. Capasso, 58 of Brooklyn, New York died at his home on Monday, January 22nd of a heart attack.
Andy was born and raised in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn, and was a graduate of James Madison High School where he excelled in his studies as well as on the baseball team. He went on to graduate from Suny Binghamton University with a BA degree in History, where he was the shortstop on the baseball team. Following his undergraduate studies he graduated Law School from NYU. He became a personal injury attorney and practiced in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Andy loved all sports, especially baseball and football, as a fan of the NY Mets and Jets and was the manager of the Barracuda softball team in Brooklyn for the last several years. He was an avid bowler for many years and was on multiple bowling leagues. Andy enjoyed the NY Post and NY Times crossword puzzles and was a fan of 1970’s tv, watching all the old shows like the Brady Bunch, The Odd Couple, The Honeymooners , as well as the current Jeopardy game show. He loved his music countdowns on Sirius XM radio and especially enjoyed the 70’s on 7 listening to Casey Kasim’s countdown broadcasts.
Andy loved his home in Mill Basin, Brooklyn. He had such pride in home ownership and shared his home with his loving partner, Tim. Together they hosted many family and friends for all occasions, making sure everyone always had a good time. He was incredibly generous as well.
Andy was pre-deceased by his brother Gregory Capasso who died on December 21, 1988 in the Pan Am airline tragedy in Lockerbie Scotland.
Andy is survived by his loving partner of 28 years, Tim Peeney; his incredible parents, Betty-Ann and Salvatore Capasso; his sister in law and brother in law, Jennifer and John Richardson his brother in law and sister in law, Thomas and Christina Peeney; his nieces and nephew‘s, Michael, Matthew and Katelyn Richardson and Thomas and Lauren Peeney; his Aunts and Uncles, Virgina Capasso Brincat, Anthony and Carol Capasso, Michael and Arlene Capasso and Constance and Ronald DeCandia as well as many loving cousins.
Visitation for Andy will be held on Friday February 2nd from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm and again on Saturday, February 3rd from 11am to 1pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A private entombment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn at a later date so that Andy can be with his brother Greg.
He lived a beautiful life. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
