Andrew Newfeld, 53 of Atlantic Highlands, passed away Wednesday Dec. 29th at the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Mr. Newfeld was employed by the Middletown Twp. Board of Education as a Teacher at the Thompson Middle School. He recieved his B.A. degree from George Washington University and his Master's in Russian Studies from University of Michigan. He was a member of the Subaru Tuner Club. Suviving is a son, Jeremy Monroe Newfeld Harris, Highlands; his Mother, Natalie Tublitz, Stockbridge, MA, and his Step-Mother, Roberta Newfeld, Green Brook, NJ; two brothers, Seth Newfeld, Woodbridge and Adam Newfeld, Springfield; four sisters, Allison Newfeld, Green Brook, Lisa Mehulam, Green Brook, NJ, Dorah Mehulam, Pa., Alayne Zaremba, Pa.; two granddaughters, Natalie Harris and Jemma Harris. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 31, 1:00PM, at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Interment will be private. I did not know Andrew Nefeld but I do know Seth. I have taken the time to read all of the tributes written here . I wish I had known him he sounds like a wonderful person. He will live on in his students and family. His kindness and ability with people has already saved a young persons life from not believing in themselves. this i know because they have written all over thes pages. RIP and condolences

I co-taught with Andrew quite a few years at Thompson and got to know him that way. He was really smart about alot of things and told me so many interesting stories about his family- Jeremy- the twins- the triplets- the Beatles- Alec Baldwin- Russia- the one that got away - kids he could just sense were floundering - kids he kept in touch with from years ago he was so proud -weddings graduations of theirs- his idea to get into an automotile repair business when he retired because I said he'd be too young to just stop working at 55- he was a great guy and I am so glad fate brought me into his classroom daily because of our hours of common planning time and sharing lunch in the Teachers Room with our friends. His was a life well lived as evidenced by all of these tributes. RIP Andrew- Ann
