Ann Shashaty, 86, of Pompano Beach, FL passed away at home on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Born in Springfield, MA Ann lived in Brooklyn, NY prior to moving to Pompano Beach, FL 29 years ago. Ann was a parishioner and choir member of St. Gabriel Church in Pompano Beach, FL. Mrs. Shashaty was a Dame of the Order of Malta and also of the Order of Holy Sepulchre. She was an avid reader and loved to sing, crochet and cook for her family. Ann was a loved and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband George Shashaty in 2005, her sisters Mary Haddad, Julia Whibey, Josephine Raad, Jenny Shahen and brother Joseph Assif. Surviving are her children Carol Vullo and her husband Peter of Holmdel, NJ, James Shashaty and his wife Margaret of Scotch Plains, NJ, George Shashaty and his wife Cynthia of Jackson, NJ, John Shashaty of Pompano Beach, FL, and sisters Nellie Joseph, Elizabeth Topazio and Evelyn Korowlotny, her 8 grandchildren Christina Longo and her husband Tom, Cara Vullo, Tara Sparks and her husband Hunter, Mary, Claire, Michael, Christopher and Katie Shashaty, and 2 great grandchildren Madeleine and Mark Longo. Visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will offered 9:15 am Saturday at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Entombment will be in the Holmdel Cemetery.
