Ann Tranquilli was born in Itri, Italy on June 9, 1928 and passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 29, 2022.
Ann immigrated to the United States as a child and settled in the Boro Park section of Brooklyn with her parents. After graduating from high school, she worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Manhattan. She loved to go dancing with her friends from work and eventually was asked to dance by her future husband Henry. They purchased a home in the same neighborhood she grew up in and raised their children on the same block as her parents, siblings and cousins.
Later on in life, Ann traveled extensively through Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean with her family. She also enjoyed playing the slots in Atlantic City as well as watching murder mysteries and the 10 o’clock news with a big glass of red wine. She was also an incredible baker. Everyone had their favorites, some being her crumb cake, apple pie, and chocolate cake for her son-in-law’s birthday. She also enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving with many Italian dishes added to the turkey course.
Ann is predeceased by her husband Henry Tranquilli; her daughter Lorene Milone; and her siblings Rita Savallo and Jimmy Orciuolo.
Ann is survived by her daughter Gail DiFazio and her husband John of Colts Neck; and her beloved grandchildren Dean and Garett DiFazio.
Visitation will be Monday, October 3rd from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered following the visitation at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck. An entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) in honor of the deceased.
