Anna Pancila, age 92, of Colts Neck, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1932, to her late parents Diego and Angela (née Mara) Morabito. She graduated from St. Augustine High School where she was inducted into the Leo Honors Society of the Diocese of Brooklyn. She married her late husband, Carl Pancila in 1960. She resided in Brooklyn until 1965, then moved to Cedar Grove, NJ where she lived for fifty-three years. She moved to Monmouth County in 2018 living at Seabrook in Tinton Falls to be closer to her family.
Anna was employed as an Executive Secretary to the principal at James Caldwell High School, retiring at the age of 75. For thirty years, she served as the president of the Ridgewood Acres Neighborhood Association. As an active and social person, she participated in book clubs, sang in her church choir, and enjoyed attending plays and concerts with friends. She took great pleasure in traveling throughout her life, visiting many states and to other countries such as Germany, Italy, England, Budapest and Ireland.
Family was central to her life. She cherished spending time with her loved ones. Her greatest joys were spending summers at the beach most especially Seaside Park, family vacations in the fall at Windham, Christmastime in Colts Neck and lunches with her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her husband, Carl Pancila, 1998; and her six siblings: Anthony, Joseph, Frank, Mary, Emily, and Frances.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Pancila and his wife Linda; her grandchildren Erin and Patrick; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 30, 2025, 10:00am at the Parish of St. Mary, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck, NJ 07722.
Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 712 Grove St, Montclair, NJ 07043.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna’s memory are suggested to the Parish of St. Mary.
