Ansel C. Ugural, PhD, 91 of Holmdel died on Tuesday, December 30th at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
He was born in Aydin, Turkey where he was raised and received his undergraduate degree. Ansel immigrated to the United States where he attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving his MS in mechanical engineering and PhD in engineering mechanics. He became a professor and chairman of Mechanical Engineering, holding positions at the University of Wisconsin, FDU and NJIT.
Ansel also had considerable experience full-time and consulting as a design, development, and research engineer.
He was the author of numerous textbooks on mechanical engineering, which are used globally in higher education. Ansel also published many articles in trade and professional journals. He was a member of several engineering and educational societies.
Ansel was a nature lover and enjoyed many long walks at parks in Monmouth County. He also loved to visit and swim at the nearby seashore. Ansel liked to spend time in his garden, exercise, read and work on investing. He also spent time studying and writing about health and longevity.
Ansel’s greatest role was as beloved husband and father, always putting the needs of others before his own.
Surviving is his wife Nuran Ugural of 55 years; his daughter Aileen and her husband James Coll and his son Errol Ansel Ugural; his sister Aysin Ugural.
Ansel will be entombed in a private family ceremony at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel
