Anthony A. Gasparatos, 89 of Old Bridge, died at his home on March 18^th.

He was born, raised and lived in Greece until he emigrated to the United States in 1968, where he settled in Fort Lee for 50 years. He and his wife Sofia moved to Old Bridge in 2015. He was a member of the Kimisis Tis Theotokous Greek Orthodox Church in Holmdel.

Anthony loved gardening. He loved his yard full of flowers and color.  He also loved his wife’s cooking and would happily eat every dish she made, especially her avgolemono chicken soup. He enjoyed playing Backgammon with family and friends, and was a fan of comedy shows, such as Abbott and Costello, Benny Hill, and I love Lucy. Anthony played the clarinet and once was in a band. He enjoyed listening to Greek music. He and Sofia loved taking trips to Atlantic City, staying at the casinos for a night or two, and eating at the Buffet.  He had a tradition of decorating the Christmas tree with his daughter, Susie, every year. Andrew, his son, remembers him always being supportive, and he encouraged him to get a good education and use his mind to its fullest potential to get far in life.

Surviving him are his wife of 65 years, Sofia; his son, Andrew, and Andrew’s wife, Diane, of Ridgewood; his daughter, Susanna, and her husband, Dean Lodzinski, of Old Bridge; and three grandchildren: Christina, Carolena, and Christopher.

Visitation, Thursday March 21^st, 6 to 8 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Funeral mass, Friday, March 22^nd, 10:00 am, at Kimisis Tis Theotokous Greek Orthodox Church in Holmdel. Interment will follow at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery in Morganville.
