Keansburg- Audrey Mary Laughlin (nee Yates) 88, passed away on July 15, 2022 at Bayside Manor, Keansburg. She was born in Long Branch but lived most of her life in Keyport. She and her husband, Harold “Red” Laughlin ran a corner deli in Keyport for many years. She always spoke fondly of those years and how the customers were really more like friends. She was called “Mom” by many of the kids who went to the store. She then followed her husband into their next endeavor which was to manage a senior citizens high-rise on Beers Street in Keyport. Red managed the building with Audrey at his side until his death in 1989 and then Audrey took over as manager until her retirement in 1994. Altogether they worked side-by-side for almost 40 years. She enjoyed needle-work, was an avid reader and an excellent baker. But mostly she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and especially loved gathering everyone together for the holidays.
She is predeceased by her parents George B. and Anne M. Yates, her Husband Harold Laughlin and her brother George G. Yates.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert & Cindy of Keyport, David & Chris of Holmdel and Craig & Lisa of Aberdeen; and by her beloved grandchildren Douglas, Steven & Kerry.
A visitation will take place at Holmdel Funeral Home on Sunday, July 31st from 2pm-6pm. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday August 1st at 10am followed by an interment at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
