Avry Timol, 24, of Marlboro, NJ, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025.

Born in West Islip, NY, and formerly of Huntington, NY, Avry had resided in Marlboro since 2018. Upon his graduation from High School, he began his studies in engineering, which was his greatest passion. He graduated from Brookdale Community College, where he was a STEM scholarship recipient, and he was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. His intellectual pursuits led him to study at Rutgers University, where he was set on completing his Bachelor’s and later Master’s degrees.

Deeply involved in engineering, Avry’s hobbies included building drones, computer science and coding, and he had a desire to assist in clinical research of pharmaceuticals. A dream of his was to create an app of his own before graduating school. He also loved music, gaming, and playing in his basketball league with friends.

Avry’s loved ones will always remember him for his dedication to learning about the subjects that most interested him, and his drive to create breakthroughs in engineering.

He is survived by his loving mother, Jeannette Cruz; his stepfather, Vadim Zhigin; his brother, Julian; his stepsister, Melania; his maternal grandparents, Lourdes and Hector Cruz; his uncles and aunt, Christopher and Elizabeth Cruz, and John and Jaimie Cruz; his cousin, Jordan Cruz; his father, Anwar Timol; and his paternal grandparents, Monu and Clyde Timol.

Family and friends are invited to join together for a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, with a prayer service to take place at 3:30pm.

I am heartbroken over the loss of my nephew, Avry Timol. At just 24, he left us far too soon, and the weight of this loss is almost too much to bear. My heart aches most for his little brother, Atticus, who adored him; for his father, Anwar, and his mother who loved him deeply; and for my parents, Monnie and Clyde and his maternal grandparents who have now experienced the unimaginable pain of losing a grandchild. Please accept my condolences, I knew Avery from Discrete Math for ECE where we were partners for group assigments for the fall 2024 semester. I recall him being more motivated and hardworking then myself, going to office hours, getting a head start on assignments, etc: I also recall having a conversation late one night with him about his plans in life and the things he has gone through to get to the place he was at today. He had a contagious smile is what I'll remember about him.

My older brother and I at Comic-Con

Although I sadly could not come today, avry was one of the most amazing people. He was genuinely one of the smartest people I knew. I’ve known avry since I was 2 or 3 years old. I do not see him as my step-brother, but instead as my brother. He always looked out for me. When introducing me, he never called me his “step-sister,” but instead his little sister. He would always talk to me about how I can’t date boys, and would always make the best jokes. One year, we took a trip to Dominican Republic, and he did every single activity with me, even when nobody else would. That describes the type of person Avry was; fun, caring, light-hearted, and just overall an incredible person. I am so lucky that I have the privilege to call him my older brother. I know that even if he is not with me physically, he will now guard and protect over me. Avry will forever be with me through every life event. I know that he is now at peace in heaven, and god is treating him well. May my older brother rest in peace, and may he know how dearly we all miss him.
