Brenda Lee Short passed away at home on April 23, 2026 surrounded by her family and friends after a long-term illness. She was 69 years old. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and grew up in Holmdel, New Jersey. She raised her family in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Her parents were Joseph and Elizabeth (Betty) Dondero.  She is survived by her sons Tim and Dan, her sister Barbara Hopkins, her goddaughter and niece Christine Hopkins, her former husband and close friend Jim Short, other family, and many very close friends.

Brenda was a fun-loving person who made friends easily.  She was a master of practical jokes. She loved the mountains and the beach.  She enjoyed travel, baking, music, country line dancing, and a good time by a fire in the fireplace.  She had happy memories of skiing in Europe and the US.  She enjoyed traveling the world with her friends.  She was a fan of Notre Dame football, Devils hockey, Giant’s football, and Mets baseball. Mostly, Brenda enjoyed time with her family and close friends.  She was always ready to plan and enjoy a party or event.

She last worked for RBC Associates in Somerset, New Jersey. Brenda enjoyed the challenges and rewards of managing insurance offices.

Visitation Wednedsay, April 29th 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel.  Eulogies will begin at 6:30 pm.
