Brian C. Carey Jr., 58, of The Villages, Florida, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 3, 2026. Born on August 30, 1967, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Brian lived a life defined by deep love for his family, boundless energy, and an unmistakable presence that filled every room he entered.
Brian was the beloved husband of Kerrie Carey, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage after their wedding on October 14, 1989. Together, they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Caitlin Puglisi, and her husband, Brad, and to his son, Connor Carey, and his wife, Kristin. He was also a proud grandfather to Leo Puglisi, Noah Puglisi, and Isla Carey, who were the absolute joy of his life.
Brian is survived by his loving mother, Susan Carey; his father, Brian C. Carey Sr.; his beloved brother, Kevin Carey, and his wife, Lee; his sisters-in-law, Tara Beckley and her partner, Elizabeth Ryan, and Christine Eschert and her husband, Jeff; his niece and nephews, Ryan Carey, Mackenzie Carey, Sean Carey, Christian Eschert, Sarah Eschert, and Amanda Eschert; as well as many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John E. Beckley.
Brian graduated Red Bank Catholic High School and later graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute. Over the years, he built a diverse and hardworking career that reflected his love of driving and connecting with people. He worked as Marketing & Distribution Manager at the family business, Hotaling News Agency for 30 years, Supervisor in the Courier Department at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Training Manager and Driver for Arrow Limousine, and later fulfilled a dream by driving trucks on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour.
Brian had many passions, including trucking and the open road, cheering passionately for the Denver Broncos, skiing, Disney vacations, long road trips, and cherished Sandbridge family beach vacations. He loved taking walks with his wife, coaching his children’s sports teams, and spending every possible moment with his grandchildren.
He will be remembered as someone who loved deeply and openly, always wearing his heart on his sleeve. Brian was hardworking, determined, and incredibly caring. He was known as the loudest person in the room, always making others laugh and never wanting the party to end. Yet those closest to him also knew his quieter side, often found under a blanket, watching television, simply content being surrounded by those he loved
A memorial service honoring Brian’s life will be held on April 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in support of his mother, Susan Carey, to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Brian’s warmth, infectious laugh, and larger-than-life spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
