Carmela Martone, 97 of Toms River, died on Monday, April 11.
She was born in Jersey City, where she was raised by her parents Rosalie and Francis La Magra.
Carmela married the love of her life, Vincent and they raised their family in Kearny.
She enjoyed taking trips everywhere, especially to Seaside, Atlantic City, or wherever her car would take her. Carmela drove until she was 96 years of age. She enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Vincent Martone and six siblings, Margaret, Paula, Antoinette, Rosemary, Joseph, and Angelo. She leaves a surviving brother Vincent.
Surviving is her son Vincent and his wife Deborah Martone of Toms River, her daughter Theresa and husband Ronald Testa of Wall Township, five grandchildren, Melissa, Lisa, Vincent, Amy and Alicia, along with five loving great-grandchildren, Lucia, Henri, Brielle, Franco and Felix.
Graveside service will be held on April 18th 11am (Monday) at Holmdel Cemetery, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel.
In lieu of traditional remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that donations in Carmela’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org)
