Carmine A. DiStefano, 78, of Marlboro, NJ, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, after a courageous 23-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born Carmelo DiStefano in Catania, Sicily, on January 2, 1946, he immigrated to the United States with his family on December 21, 1955, arriving through Ellis Island. He ultimately settled in Gravesend, Brooklyn, NY.
Carmine graduated from Lafayette High School and embarked on a successful career and becoming a proud business owner. On August 10, 1968, he married the love of his life, Linda (née Garofolini). Together, they built a wonderful life, raising their family of five, in Brooklyn, NY. Twenty-five years later, they moved to Tottenville, Staten Island, NY. There, they shared 14 years of cherished memories in their beautiful new home. In their later years, Carmine and Linda retired to Marlboro, NJ.
Carmine was known for his hard work and deep devotion to his extensive Italian family. He passionately pursued interests in investments and real estate. He also enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City, NJ and Florida. Above all, Carmine was a dedicated family man, prioritizing the well-being and happiness of his loved ones. He will be remembered for his warmth, strength, and love by many.
Carmine is predeceased by his parents, Alberto and Mattia DiStefano, and his sisters, Santina and her husband Anthony Monello, Rosemarie and her husband Salvatore Ponzo, as well as his loving sister-in-law Rosetta DiStefano.
Carmine is survived by his beloved wife, Linda DiStefano, and his cherished children: Carmine DiStefano and his wife Marybeth, Gina Iacobello and her husband Paul, and Robert DiStefano and his wife Andrea. He was a loving grandfather (Papa) to Paul, Matthew, Joseph, Madeline, Carmine, Julia, and Robert. Carmine is also survived by his brother Giovanni DiStefano, his sister Carmela Salamone and her husband Vincenzo as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Saint Gabriel’s Main Church, 100 N. Main Street, Marlboro, NJ, with entombment to follow at Saint Gabriel’s Mausoleum in Marlboro.
