Catherine Buzzerio, 88 of Holmdel died on Thursday, February 17.

She was born in the Bronx to the late Antonina and Louis Alessi in 1933.

Catherine was raised in the Bronx and graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan. She met the love of her life Sergio, and the two of them began their family together in Lakewood, NJ. They moved to Holmdel in 1980 where they lived the rest of their time together.

Catherine enjoyed traveling, and found passion in creating needlepoint art. She was a devout Catholic and was a loyal wife, loving mother, and beloved grandmother. Catherine enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.

She is predeceased by her husband, Sergio Buzzerio and her sister, Annette Castellano.

Surviving are her two children Marianne and her husband, Stephen Tasy of Pittstown, NJ and Philip and his wife Giovanna Buzzerio of Holmdel, and four grandchildren Sergio, Catherine, Nicholas, and Peter.

Catherine’s family is eternally grateful to the staff of The Willows at Holmdel, and her caregiver, Rebecca, for all they’ve done for her in recent years.

Visitation on Monday February 21 from 1-5pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, February 22 at 9:15am in the Church of St. Catharine, Holmdel. Entombment to follow at Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Holmdel.
