Charles John Nimon (“Chuck”), 51, of Shoemakersville, PA, formerly of Lincroft, NJ, passed away peacefully at Hershey Medical Center on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010, from Diabetic complications. He was born in Red Bank, NJ on December 27, 1958; the first son of Robert and Eileen Nimon. He graduated from St. Leo the Great Grammar School and Red Bank Catholic High School. He was an Altar Boy at St. Leo the Great Church, a volunteer fireman in Lincroft, NJ, and a Boy Scout. Chuck was on the staff of Forestburg Camp for Boy Scouts in NY State in his youth. He attended St. Leo’s University in Florida. For a short time he lived in Lake Hiawatha and also Dover, NJ. In 1996, he moved to Shoemakersville, PA, where he lived until his passing. He worked as a project manager for NJBell, AT&T, Lucent, and Avaya. He retired from Avaya in 2008. He served as president of the Shoemakersville Fire Dept in PA. Chuck is predeceased by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Nimon. He is survived by his father and mother, Deacon Bob and Eileen Nimon of Bradenton, FL; his brother, Michael Nimon, of Lincroft, NJ; his sisters, Nancy Nimon of Brick, NJ and Jennifer Nimon of Ocean, NJ; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Chuck loved his family, his friends and his dogs. Chuck was thoughtful, caring, and dedicated. He was unparalleled in his generosity. He had a great spirit and could make people laugh, until they cried (literally). He was an extremely hard worker. He took great pride in whatever job he did. He was especially proud of the Shoemakersville Fire Dept Bingo that he organized on Wednesdays and Sundays. He loved the beauty of living out “in the country” in Pennsylvania; from the small town feel, to the beautiful open green fields, to the animal life, and even the llamas. He was an avid sports fan. He played sports in his younger days; baseball and football. And later, he collected sport memorabilia. He was a loyal fan; he loved the Giants, Mets, Knicks, and–to his family’s dismay-the Rangers. Chuck loved his family so deeply; he was so giving and so thoughtful. He was the type of person that would listen and hear you say you needed something. Then, for your next birthday or holiday, he’d have it for you! He was the “king” of gadgets and toys. For several years, he hosted the “Shoey Christmas Extravaganza” for his family and friends from NJ. Chuck was an avid animal lover, dogs in particular. He referred to his late dog, Oakley, as his “son”. And he was never at a loss of funny stories for his dogs, Abby and Eli. Son, brother, friend…Chuck will be missed.
