Chin Yun Lee Wu, aged 63, of Hoboken, passed away on Saturday, August 8th, surrounded by her loved ones.
Chin Yun was born and raised in I-Lan, Taiwan to Chin-Pi Lin and the late Ching-Chuan Lee. She moved to Taipei to attend Fujen Catholic University and graduated with a degree in Sociology. In Taipei, she met her late husband Gin-Weigh Wu, and they got married shortly after. Chin Yun moved to Missouri with her husband to attend the University of Missouri- Columbia, where she received her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She and her husband then began their family and moved to Seattle, WA, before settling in Holmdel, NJ, in 1998 where she resided until her late husband’s passing.
Chin Yun was a proud educator, having been a teacher, Principal, and Board Member of the Jersey Shore Chinese School for many years. She also loved her time as a teacher at Red Bank Regional and Rumson Fair Haven High Schools where she taught Chinese. She was wholeheartedly invested in the education and well-being of her students, always willing to lend a helping hand and forming lasting bonds with her students and coworkers.
Chin Yun loved to travel the world, most notably anywhere where the Northern Lights could possibly be, and had a goal to visit all the National Parks. She would often travel to Taiwan to visit her large family and numerous friends she still kept in touch with despite having moved away so many years ago. She was a masterful host, often known as a connoisseur in the kitchen with her ability to create and replicate recipes from just one taste. She and her husband were very selfless, humble people who often helped others, were always willing to volunteer, and sought out any opportunity to be charitable while never expecting any recognition in return. She was deeply devoted to caring for all, especially her family, and was particularly proud of being a recent grandmother. She loved spending time with her family the most, and her gentle loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her father, Ching-Chuan Lee, and her husband, Dr. Gin-Weigh Wu.
Surviving are her two daughters, Samantha Wu of Washington, DC, and Christina Wu Miller (husband Brian Miller) of Hoboken, several loving siblings, and her beloved granddaughter, Virginia.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, at 2:00 pm, at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel.
