I only got to really know Cliff a few years ago when we would walk around the block together with Kaley, Cliff’s dog. He was a wonderful man who loved his family very deeply, throughout all of his own health issues. I will always remember those walks together.

I have been blessed to have known LT Yaschur, his late wife Marj, and his two children, Jeff and Carolyn. I came to know Carolyn through a mutual friend back in the late 80s when attending Messiah College, and lost touch with her for a short time after that. In the early 90s I got reacquainted with Carolyn at a young person's gathering thru the Presbytery of Monmouth and also got to be friends with her brother Jeff. Jeff, Carolyn, and I would ski together and mountain bike together and enjoyed time just being together in the later 90s. Jeff and Carolyn moved around the US after that, but we all tried to keep in touch. Shortly before 9/11, Jeff moved back closer to home. Then 9/11 happened and thru Jeff I found out about Cliff's involvement in the NJNM. I wanted to do something to help NJ/the country after the horrific incident and Cliff Yaschur helped put me in touch with the right people in order to join the NJNM shortly after 9/11. The camaraderie and involvement in the NJNM ultimately led me to join the US Navy in 2003.It's hard to believe how much time has gone by in the interim. Even though this such a sad time, I would like to say that the blessings I've received from being friends with Jeff and Carolyn are immeasurable.
