Darrell Brooks Livingston passed away at his home in Red Bank, NJ on October 9, 2023. He was 56 and left us too soon.
Born on December 22, 1966 in New York City to Rowena (Powers) and Donald B. Livingston, he grew up Englishtown, NJ and Holmdel, NJ. Darrell attended The Ranney School, The Pennington School, and graduated from Holmdel High School in 1985. After a year at Johnson and Wales University, he set out to build a career in the construction industry that would span 30 years.
Darrell held Sr. Site Superintendent positions at various firms in Manhattan including MBI Group, Americon, HRH, and Herbert. He managed a wide range of projects from retail store roll-outs, office interiors, data centers, hospitals and medical facilities, apartments and brownstones.
Everyone knew how proud he was of his children Natalie Ann, a recent graduate of Miami University, and David Brooks, a junior at Kenyon College. His memory will live in their hearts forever.
“DL” was happiest on a sunny day, sitting poolside or on the beaches of the Jersey shore and the Outer Banks of North Carolina, listening to his favorite music.
He had a vast circle of friends, many he had known since kindergarten. Darrell was outgoing and had a magnetic personality; wherever he went, the party would follow. A natural networker, he truly enjoyed connecting people both professionally and personally.
Darrell was predeceased by his mother, Rowena (Powers) Livingston.
He is survived by his father retired USAF Colonel Donald Livingston; children Natalie and David Livingston; siblings Rhett (Jennifer) Livingston and Brooke (Jacopo) Visentini; former wife Debra Post; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held on Friday, November 24 from 2-4 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel.
