Diane DiSalvio Formica, 77, of Little Silver, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday March 4, 2021.
Diane was born in New York and raised in Rahway NJ before spending 20 years in Maplewood, 22 years in Oldwick, and the last 3 years in Little Silver surrounded by her family and grandchildren. She graduated from St. Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth and in 1961 made her debutante debut to the Arch Bishop Boland at Sacred Heart in Newark. After graduation she spend some time modeling in New York and then started a career on Wall Street in 1963. She would soon after meet the love of her life, Anthony through a relative on Staten Island and the two would marry in 1966 and raise two children, Tara and Chris, creating cherished memories in Maplewood. A devoted homemaker and mother for decades, Diane found much success as a medical malpractice paralegal and assisted on many National and International cases.
Diane had many passions, avid reader who was known for always having an article or medical journal in hand when visiting loved ones if she thought they needed the resource; incredible cook who loved to spend hours in the kitchen knowing her family was soon to join her around her table, as Diane was loved by all who were recipients of her famous dishes, soups or Tiramisu. As an accomplished gardener who could grow anything from a seed or root, her fresh vegetables, lemon trees and herbs were her trademark and were only amongst the few she was known for. Diane was the happiest on the countless trips to Italy with her husband to visit family and friends, on pier 3 in Atlantic Highlands with fellow boaters who were like family or surrounded by her grandchildren on Sundays for a family feast she prepared. Her greatest pride was her family who she fiercely loved, protected and supported.
Diane is predeceased by her loving husband Anthony Formica of 51 years; her parents, Madeline Briggi DiSalvio and Frank DiSalvio.
Diane is survived by her daughter Tara Formica Kelly and her husband Matthew of Little Silver and her beloved grandchildren Madeline, Elizabeth, Matthew, Ryan and Victoria.
