I never knew Donna in life, as I just heard about her in an email from my brother Tim this week. Donna and Tim's wife Terri had known each other. Tim sent me a copy of a poem said to have been read at Donna's services, re "the dash." I just wanted to add our condolences and say that she made an indelible impression on some who never even knew her in life. I have three girls in their 20's with whom I'll share this, may they remember me as well when I'm gone.

Dear Mr. Lane: I was shocked when Larry told me the news on Monday about Donna. I have done nothing but think about you and your family all week. I hope that in time the pain and shock that you are all feeling now will be replaced with fond memories.

Donna was extraordinary. Beautiful, self-disciplined, intelligent, capable and caring. She raised two marvelous daughters who will always be a credit to her. I'm glad I knew her and will never forget her. My heart is with Becky and Joe, Vinnie, Shannon and Kim on this sad day.

Vinny, Shannon, and Kim, I know that everything I have to say has pretty much been said, but I want all of you to know how much I loved your mom, and all of you for that matter. You guys were a big part of my life for a long time, and I will never forget all that you guys have done for me and my mom. With soccer, and even occasionally keeping my mom company, which I can tell you meant alot to her because she couldn't stop talking about how great you guys are. When my mom told me about the accident, it was like I was punched in the stomach. Donna was an amazing person, and I cannot even begin to imagine what you are going through. She will be missed very much. I only wish I was there to give my condolences and support in person. Dearest Lane Family, Although a neighbor for almost five years, we have never met. I did however have the chance,... quite a few chances to meet Donna while she walked the "big dog",as my daughter Olivia would say. She loved to see her in the morning and would often run up to her for a short meet and greet before school. Dear Mr Lane, Shannon and Kimberly. I had the pleasure of meeting Donna and the girls when I worked for Dr Tom Bilella in Matawan. When Donna walked in to a room the whole energy of the room became brighter. I recently spoke to Donna and was able to tell her how much I admired her and was in awe of all that she has done and was doing. She was truly a shining star. When I read about Donna I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your wife and mother. Even though it has been over 20 years since I last saw her I will always remember her beauty and kindness. We got to know each other when we both worked at Bell Labs together and had an instant connection. We were both around the same age, we had our children about the same time, and we both had a connection to Hazlet. She had gone to High School about the same time as my husband, Rick Coutu and his brother Tom. It did not surprise me when I read how much she had accomplished in her life, even back then she gave an aura of someone who was meant to accomplish many things. Reading about her I can only see how she touched so many people in her life. I know she touched mine. It was a pleasure to have known her. Our deepest thoughts and prayers(mine and Rick's family) go out to you and your family during this difficult time.

To Donna's loving family - I had the privilege of only knowing Donna for a short time, as a fellow runner and as my massage therapist, but will miss her greatly.
