Edward C. Wilson, Jr., 90 of Oceanport died on Wednesday, December 30th at home.
He was born in Long Branch to the late Muriel and Edward Wilson, Sr. Ed attended Oceanport schools and graduated from Long Branch High School in 1948. He then moved to Florida, where he graduated from Embry-Riddle School of Aviation and became an aviation mechanic and eventually worked as a Pilot for the Mackle Brothers.
Ed was a very mechanical person, he was a car mechanic, repaired clocks, and even built a motorcycle. He made sure he always had something to do to keep himself busy.
He relaxed by gardening, birdwatching, and by keeping a journal of the daily weather.
He was a devout parishioner of St. Uriel’s Church in Sea Girt. Ed earned his Eagle Scout recognition from Troop 58 in Oceanport. He was a Chaplain for the Oceanport Senior Citizens Club, and was involved with the Episcopal Church in New Jersey and Florida as an Eucharistic Minister.
He is predeceased by his wife of 68 years Joyce Wilson, and his sister Muriel “Dolly” Barnes.
Surviving is his daughter, Cynthia and her husband Douglas Zimmerman of Pembroke Pines, FL, his grandchildren Chris and his wife Tania Baros, and William and his wife Vanessa Baros, great granddaughter Corryn Baros, two great-great grandchildren Gunnar and Evans Baros, and his niece Melissa and her husband Phillip Kelly.
Visitation Friday, January 8 from 3-5pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral Mass Saturday, January 9 at 11am at St. Uriel’s Church, 219 Philadelphia Blvd, Sea Girt. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery and Mausoleum, Oceanport.
