Eleanore P. Salvo, 100 of Colts Neck died at her home on Sunday, March 27th.
She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Washington Irving High School, Brooklyn, and was awarded a scholarship to Pratt Institute of Design, where she was graduated. Eleanore went on to become a seamstress for Henri Bendel Couture of New York City, where she would create and make clothing for many.
Eleanore loved to sew, she would sew drapes, bedspreads, coats and even prom gowns for her family and friends. A favorite pastime was to shop, especially enjoying spending time in Macy’s at Herald Square. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends at her home on Staten Island. The holidays, being her favorite times each year, hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday dinner. Once Eleanore and her husband Vincent moved to Colts Neck to be near her daughter and her family.
She was a lover of the Big Band Era of music, and was a fan of Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey and Dean Martin.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 72 years, Vincent Salvo who died in 2015.
Surviving are her children, Vince and Theresa Salvo, Venice, Florida, Roseanne and Raymond Longobardi, Colts Neck and Debbie and Ralph Pastore, Garden City, NY; four grandchildren, Vincent Salvo, III and his wife Nicole, Natalie and Christian Disque, Raymond Longobardi, Jr. and Matthew Longobardi.
Visitation Wednesday, March 30th, 3 to 7 pm, at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday March 31st, 10:30 am, at the St. Mary’s RC Church, 1 Phalanx Road, Colts Neck. Private interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens.
