Elinor M. 'Ducky' McCormick, 85, of Holmdel passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Born in Arcola, NJ Mrs. McCormick has lived in Holmdel for the past 68 years. She was a former caterer and homemaker and avid reader. She belonged to the Holmdel Half Century Club and the Holmdel Fire Company Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. McCormick was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband William McCormick in 2009, a daughter Michele Damen, and son-in-law George Meissner. Surviving are her children Carol Meissner, Margaret Harrison and her husband Charles, and Sharon Lasater, a sister Florence Dyer, 8 grandchildren Bonnie Meissner, Jeffery (Traci) Harrison, Scott (Bonnie) Damen, Lance (Janine) Meissner, Brian (Janice) Harrison, Megan (Cole) Porter, Amy (Edward) Lucas, and Kylie McGinty, and 10 great grandchildren Kaitlin, Jacob, Jillian, Holly, Jordan, Faye, Lily, Amanda, Sarah, and Charlie. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A funeral service will be offered in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00AM. Interment will be in the Holmdel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

Whenever I look out my window and see the beautiful pink Dogwood tree, you gave us I will think of you. I remember walking to your garden for fresh vegetables, the holiday parties with friends and neighbors, sleigh riding on your hill and your delicious catering. Rest in peace. You will be missed.

This news is not anything that anyone wants to accept. Aunt Ducky was one of those women you never thought would pass away because she was such a life changing, god loving person. All the memories about Aunt Ducky were nothing short of amazing. I have so many memories in her house and even the trailer up in Pennsylvania . I remember catching lighting bugs and rolling down that big hill and playing with Gunther out in the yard until Aunt Ducky had to drag us both in to eat dinner. In her home I always felt so welcomed and she was always so happy to see me. The news of Aunt Ducky is news I myself do not want to accept but to know she is at peace and with Uncle Bill helps me cope a little better.
