Emilio “Emile” Talarico, 76, of Holmdel, passed away on October 18, 2024.
Emile Talarico, the son of the late Kay and Ed Talarico, was born and raised in Red Bank, New Jersey. He graduated from Red Bank High School in 1966 and pursued his passion for art at the School of Visual Arts. He later earned an Art Teaching Degree from Monmouth College, a Master’s in Art Education from Kean University, and a Doctorate in Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Emile was deeply committed to art education. As a member of the Art Educators of New Jersey, he played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s Art Curriculum while advocating tirelessly for the inclusion of arts in schools. He championed his students, encouraging them to explore and nurture their artistic talents.
Throughout his distinguished career, Emile was the Arts Supervisor at Livingston School District, taught drawing at Brookdale Community College, and served as Director for the Brookdale Creative Arts Camp. His passion for education culminated in his role as Professor and Program Director of the Online Educational Leadership Program at Montclair University.
Emile was a true Renaissance man with a wide range of artistic talents. He was not only a dedicated educator but also an accomplished musician. He played bass guitar and drums and sang with the Red Bank rock groups The Clique and Fate alongside his late brother, Vinnie. He found joy in creating art through sculpture, painting, and pastel portraits.
Beyond his artistic and professional endeavors, Emile was an avid sports enthusiast, especially fond of baseball, football, tennis, and the Olympics.
Above all, Emile will be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his family. His parents, Armando (Ed) and Catherine (Kay) Talarico, and his brother, Vincent (Vinnie) Talarico, predeceased him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dorothy Talarico; his children, Linda Talarico and David Talarico; his wife, Karen; and his cherished grandson, Jack Talarico.
Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 23 from 10am – 11:30am at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road. A funeral home service will be offered at 11:30am.
