Francis L. Clayton, of Ocean Gate passed away August 24, 2011 at the Van Dyke Hospice, Community Medical Center, Toms River. Mr. Clayton was born in Long Branch and lived in Ocean Twp. and Eatontown before moving here 20 years ago. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Clayton served for seven years as a Councilman in Ocean Gate. He later served on the Central Regional Board of Education, where he resigned in April of 2011 for health reasons. He was a member of the Ocean Gate Senior Citizens, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars all of Ocean Gate. Mr. Clayton was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Mr. Clayton was predeceased by his daughter and son; Donna in 1990 and Duane in 2008. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Gerry Frampton Clayton; three sons, Ken, Brian and Bob Clayton; three daughters, Barbara, Gail Drogan and Patti Moschella; his sister, Cornelia Beck; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday Aug. 29th, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch, NJ. Funeral services will be Tuesday Aug. 30th, 11 AM at the funeral home.
