George L. Hernandez, 84 of Long Branch, died on Sunday, January 1.

He was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico in 1938 to the late Angelina Adorno and Erminio Hernandez.

George was a very hard worker. He began working at an early age, and in his early twenties, he moved to New Jersey. George worked in various places including Fort Monmouth before he retired, and continued to work in other places even after retirement.

George was a very optimistic person who was never in a bad mood.  He loved to tell jokes, and was very playful in nature.  George loved animals, and when he wasn’t working, he liked to kick back and watch a soccer game, and when asked who his team was, his reply was always “the winner”.

He is predeceased by his parents Angelina Adorno and Erminio Hernandez, his son-in-law Alfonso Rodriguez, and granddaughter Raquel Rodriguez.

Surviving is his loving wife of 36 years, Reyes Hernandez, daughters Reyna and her husband Alberto Guzman of Tinton Falls, and Eva Garcia of Long Branch, and two grandchildren Edward and Rebecca.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 4 from 4pm – 8pm at Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 5 at 10am at Our Lady Star by the Sea, Long Branch. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
