Gladys Lambert, aged 94, of Ocean Township, passed away on Friday, February 21, surrounded by her family. She was renowned for her sharp intellect, quick wit, unwavering optimism, proud patriotism, and selfless dedication to her family.
Gladys was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, where she graduated from Battin High School in 1949. On December 12, 1953, Gladys married the love of her life, George Francis Lambert, moved to New Brunswick, NJ and started a family. After New Brunswick, the family lived in Oswego, NY, Vineland, NJ, and Flushing, NY before settling in Monmouth County. While living in Monmouth County Gladys would start a career at Fort Monmouth as a program analyst, where she worked until her retirement in 1998. Gladys was an enthusiastic volunteer for charitable causes near-and-dear to her heart including the Pollak Auxiliary, where she participated in fund-raising activities for the Monmouth Medical Center Pollak Clinic. Gladys was a devoted member of the Lutheran church, an avid gardener, a fan of British television, and a lover of the Jersey Shore. Gladys maintained a close-knit group of friends, whose companionship she coveted until the end of her life. Gladys never met a dog she did not immediately fall in love with and cared for several throughout her life. Above all, Gladys cherished her grandchildren, who brought significant joy and purpose to her life.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband George F. Lambert, her son Brian G. Lambert and her grandson Timothy G. Lambert.
Gladys is survived by her son Mark R. Lambert and his wife Gloria R. Lambert, and her grandchildren Daniel T. and Matthew G. Lambert.
A memorial mass will be held on March 22nd at 3:00 PM at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, 992 Broadway, West Long Branch. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch, NJ 07740.
