H. Alan Schneider, 81 of Oceanport passed away Thursday, November 15th at the Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
Mr. Schneider was born in Roselle Park, NJ and moved to Oceanport in 1960. He was a 1952 graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Penn. He served honorably in the U.S. Army following his graduation.
In 1955 along with his partner George Curchin, they founded their accounting firm, Curchin and Schneider CPA’s, Long Branch. They later opened a second office in Red Bank. After he retired from the firm, he became the Controller at Glover Advertising, Secaucus. He later returned to Curchin and Co. as a Senior Advisor, where he enjoyed mentoring young C.P.A.’s.
Mr. Schneider was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Long Branch. He served as a Trustee and Treasurer for many years. He also was a member of the Men’s club at the church.
He was a former Councilman for the Boro of Oceanport. Mr. Schneider was the Treasurer of the Elberon Memorial Church. He served on the board of trustees, for CPC, He served on the Silver Bay Board of the YMCA, Lake George, NY. He was the Past Commodore and Treasurer of the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club and a member of the Navesink Country Club. He was a member of the Red Bank Rotary Club and a member of the Root Beer and Checkers Club, Red Bank.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Laura Miller Schneider, who died in 2008.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Harold and Suzanne Schneider, Winchester, Va., Raymond and Heather Schneider, South Kingstown, RI and Donald and Langlie Schneider, Oceanport; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Jayne Schneider, Maui, HI; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Ed Fuhrmeister, Ruston, LA.; and his eight grandchildren, Katherine, Todd Alan, Matthew, Carrie, Blair, Miller, Nicole and Morgan; his caregiver for the past three years, Tina.
Memorial Gathering will be 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Broadway and Washington St., Long Branch.
