Henry J. (“Hank”) Rakowski, Jr. 68 of Galloway Township died at his home on Monday, January 13th.
Hank was born in Passaic, NJ and was raised in Oceanport, NJ. He was a graduate of Shore Regional High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the-then Monmouth College. Hank retired after a successful career as an Inspector for the New Jersey Casino Control Commission.
As a young man, he enjoyed outdoor activities with friends and neighbors often heading to swim at Seven President’s Park in Long Branch or surf cast fishing in Monmouth Beach. Hank played ice hockey at the Brick Ice Palace and on the Shrewsbury River when the ice would freeze over. He held summer jobs at the Monmouth Park Jockey Club as well as at Channel Towers, Monmouth Beach.
Henry was pre-deceased by his parents, Jean A. And Henry J. Rakowski, Sr. of Oceanport, N.J.
Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Robert Mansfield, Lebanon, PA and Ellen and Robert Dikun, Point Pleasant, N.J. and three nieces, Ariel Dompier of Covington WA, Elissa Naglieri of Point Pleasant and Natalie Dikun of Albany, NY.
Private interment services will be Saturday, January 25th, Woodbine Cemetery, Eatontown Blvd., Oceanport, N.J.
