Hugo P. Tomaini, 104, formerly of Long Branch, passed away Monday May 14th, on Staten Island.
Mr. Tomaini was born and raised in Long Branch. He lived there most of his life and he also had a summer home in Metedeconk, NJ.
Mr. Tomaini retired as Manager of Manufacturing and Processer Engineering for Bendix Corporation, Eatontown, after 42 years. He was a member of the Long Branch Elks. He loved horses and owned many trotter horses and in 1972 his horse, Ricci Rennie Time, became world champion pacer. He loved the outdoors, and was avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Tomaini was predeceased by his parents, Pietro and Delfina Tomaini; his wife, Margaret “Helen”; his son Peter; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and May Tomaini, John, Peter and Cora Tomaini, Julius and Margaret Tomaini and Dominic Tomaini; his sisters Louise Tomaini and Rose and her husband Bill Doane.
Surviving is his son & daughter-in-law James and Rebecca Tomaini; daughter-in-law Nancy. 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as his longtime companion Anna Scamardella.
Visitation Thursday, May 17th 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Mass of Christian Burial Friday May 18th 10:30 am at St. Michael’s RC Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch. Burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
