Irene F. 'Meri' Durland, 84 of Long Branch died at 8:10 am at her home on Friday. Born in Livorno, Italy, she married Lee Durland who died in 2003 of Cadosia, NY. Immigrating to East Orange, then West Caldwell before settling in Long Branch. She is a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, Christ the King Parish, Long Branch. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Pia and Joe Corte, Livingston; two sons, Lee and Carlo Durland, Long Branch; six grandchildren, Joseph and Nicholas Corte, Matthew, Cortnie, Justin and Daniel Durland; four sisters in Italy and a brother in Australia; many nieces and nephew worldwide. 'Meri' was a friend to all and known for her generosity, compassion and faith. Her blue eyes and smile will never be forgotten, nor will her love of God, family and friends and animals. The Italian beauty queen gave her adopted country many wonderful gifts. Visitation will be Tuesday, April, 2nd, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wed., 10 am, Star of the Sea RC Church, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Contributions may be made to Catholic Charitites, Diocese of Trenton, 383 West State Street, Trenton, NJ 08607.
