Isabel C. Amling of Farmingdale died on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

She was born in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, NY in June 1944 to the late Isabel and Robert Smith.

Isabel attended Our Lady of Perpetual Health School, Good Shepherd School, and ultimately graduated from Madison High School.

She met Robert Amling, her husband of 56 years, when they were 14 years old. Throughout her life, Isabel maintained all her closest friendships from her childhood.

Isabel was a devout Catholic and spent her life volunteering and working with the Church. She enjoyed being a CCD teacher, and was known in the Church as the “Art Director.” Isabel did everything from painting backgrounds for the plays, to directing events like the Cabaret show, leading Bible Study, starting a Rosary acquisition, and everything in between. One of her favorite events was the Mardi Gras celebration.

Isabel found the best in everyone she knew, and was always there when someone needed something. She enjoyed tending to her garden, painting, and watching the birds during her favorite season, Springtime. Isabel especially loved spending time with her family for Christmas and Easter. Her home was always beautifully decorated for Christmas.

She is predeceased by her son, Craig, and her brother, Douglas.

Surviving is her husband Robert, and four children, Keith and his wife Susan Amling of Madison, Janice and her husband John Merola of Middletown, Laura and her husband James Finger of Moscow, PA, and Eric and his wife Sarah Jean Grimm of Brooklyn, NY. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren: Matthew, Heather, Christopher, Nicholas, Lisa, Kristen, Craig, Brooklyn, and Kaitlyn, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 19th from 5:00 – 8:00pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, March 20th at 10:00 am will be offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 1 Phalanx Road, Colts Neck. Disposition will be private.
