James D. Dillon, III, passed away from natural causes while walking near his home in Conshohocken, PA, on April 20, 2022.
Jimmy was a sincerely kind and devoted son, brother and uncle. He was especially dedicated to supporting his mother, Sue Dillon, with things ranging from helping her get around on regular trips to Atlantic City and planting her garden each spring to decorating the house for Christmas and being her reason for baking a multitude of Christmas cookies each year. He loved the Mets, horseracing, the holiday football bowl season, Christmas and his family.
He was the inspiration for annual weeklong reunions for the extended family at the horseraces in Saratoga Springs, NY, where everyone knew exactly which horse he was rooting for and how close he always seemed to come to winning big. He never missed a birthday or holiday greeting for family, especially his five nieces and nephews, still carrying their school pictures in his wallet.
Jim was born September 9, 1963 in Schenectady, NY, and grew up primarily in Round Lake, near Saratoga Springs. He received a chemical engineering degree from Rutgers University and his masters and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science & Technology in Rolla. He went on to a career in the testing laboratory at C&D Technologies Inc, where he was renowned for his attention to detail and an amazing recall of historical incidents with products.
He is survived by his mother Paulette (Sue) Dillon, his sisters Margaret Cooper, Sarah Dillon, and Judith Dueker, his brothers in law Brian Cooper and John Dueker, and his nieces and nephews Daniel Cooper, Paul Cooper, Rebecca Cooper, Jennifer Dueker, and Julia Dueker. He is predeceased by his father James D. Dillon Jr., and his nephew John Dueker.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Michael’s Church.
Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, April 30th at 10:30 am at St. Michael’s RC Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch. Burial to follow in Woodbine Cemetery.
