James P. Fogerty, 83, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on June 10, 2026, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.

Born on August 5, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, James was the son of the late Gerard Fogerty and Mary Ann Fogerty. He moved to Hazlet in 1978, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, faith, and service to others.

James proudly served his country as a member of the New York State Army National Guard, serving in a Field Artillery Regiment out of the Kingsbridge Armory during the Vietnam War era. During his military service, he was stationed at Fort Drum, Fort Dix, and Fort Sill.

Following his military service, James worked as a telephone splicer for New York Telephone, dedicating many years to his profession before retiring. Never one to sit still, he later worked part-time in sales at Sears in Middletown, New Jersey, where he enjoyed meeting and helping people.

A devoted member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3402 in Keyport for more than 40 years, James embodied the spirit of charity and community service. Among his many contributions, he organized fishing trips for special needs children and adults, creating cherished memories and opportunities for countless individuals and families.

James found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, spending time with friends, taking day trips, watching classic movies and television shows, and listening to a wide variety of music. Above all, he treasured time spent with family.

James was a man of unwavering dedication to his family, friends, hard work, and values. He was always there to offer guidance, lend a helping hand, or provide words of encouragement. His strong will, determination, and steadfast character were qualities that all who knew him admired and respected.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Gloria Fogerty and Linda Gamberdelli; his parents, Gerard and Mary Ann Fogerty; and his brother, Thomas Fogerty.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Victoria Fogerty; his son, Glenn Fogerty; his daughter-in-law, Julie Fogerty; and his cherished granddaughters, Meagan Fogerty, Amy Fogerty, and Karen Fogerty, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Holmdel Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Gabriel’s Chapel in Marlboro

James leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, faith, and devotion. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
