Janet Carlucci-Douress, 84, of Ocean Twp. Passed away peacefully with her family by her side Christmas evening at her home. Janet was born in Long Branch and lived most of her life in West Long Branch and wintered in Sarasota Fla., before moving here in 1996. She was a communicant of St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. She was a graduate of Long Branch High School. Janet attended Bower's Beauty School , Perth Amboy. She was the owner and operator of the Lovely Lady Beauty Salon, Long Branch. Later she owned and operated Janet's Hair Salon, West Long Branch. She was a member of the Red Hatter's of Sarasota , Fla. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Frank Carlucci in 1977. Surviving is her husband, Charles Douress; Two daughters, Peggy Mullin-Antenucci and her husband Joseph, Little Egg Harbor, NJ, and Grace Quest and her fiance William Schneider, West Long Branch; Two step-sons, Charles T. and his wife Clare Douress, Rahway, John Douress, Seaside Park, NJ; two step-daughters, Diane McMurdo, Union, Susan Roselle, Livingston, NJ; Three brothers and two sisters-in-laws, Joseph & Stella Scialla, Ocean Twp., Sammy and Ginny Scialla, Ft. Pierce, Fl., John Scialla, Eatontown.; one sister and brother-in-law Caroline, & Frank Monteforte, Sarasota, Fl.; Eleven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street at Broadway, Long Branch. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 10:30 AM at St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Those wishing may light of candle of remembrance on the opposite page.

Susan, I was so sorry to hear of your recent loss. Please know that you and your family, along with your Beloved Janet, are in my prayers.

Janet aka Nan will surely be missed. She was always a joy to be around. She always kept herself so beautiful looking for her age! May God and the Angels watch over such a wonderful person. In our hearts she will always remain.

Janet, every time Sue and I would squabble over silly things, like where to eat or where to park the car, you would sit in your chair and laugh and laugh. It was a laugh that would fill the room, and a laugh that I will never forget. I am so fortunate to have met you, and will treasure your memory forever.

I've known Janet for 45 years. She was more than a friend, she was a sister. We had great times together, and always many laughs. I'll miss her forever.

I have so many wonderful memories of Janet from growing up. She was always so full of life . I will miss her smile and her contagious laughter, and consider it a blessing to have known her.

Janet was always smiling and happy. I met her in 1972 I think, and she was always full of energy and happy. I remember it took her almost 15 years or more to try Mary Kay that Peggy dutifully tried to convince her to use. I still remember the little salon she had set up in her home in West Long Branch. Many times she was at events we had and she was always a good sport and always looked the part of the lady she was. God Bless her return home.

Dear Mother Janet, I will never forget the look on your face when Peg and I showed up on your doorstep on Mother's Day in Sarasota Fl. That memory will live with me forever. It was priceless! If I could do it again I would. Thank you for the memories. I love you! Rest in Peace.

When you died my dearest, blessed mother, I had no sights or thoughts for tomorrow. My soul experienced a wrenching eruption Of pain and grief and excruciating sorrow. The anguish of spirit: so unbearable; The agony of mind: so intense, The suffering in body: so unceasing, Against all: I had no defense. Nevertheless, beloved, I need you to know, And I pray you can hear what I say. I don’t mind the pain I’m going through. It’s a small price, for our love, to pay. We knew that one day we would have to part; That death would come by in due time. We knew how hard it would be for the other, Who had to courageously linger behind. But we knew our bond was worth the cost, And valued each moment together we shared. Now that I must without you go on, The pain of my loss I will not be spared. I wouldn’t, if I could, give my pain away. It’s special and mine all alone. It affirms all the love that I felt for you, And in me, it can only be known. So mother, though the pain of grief I endure Will gradually and slowly subside. The strength of the love that you and I share, In the core of my heart will forever abide
