Janice E. Ward, 63, of Holmdel passed away Friday, September 8th at home surrounded by her family.

Janice was born in Paterson and raised in Elmwood Park. She was a 1972 graduate of East Paterson High School. Following her graduation from Montclair State College in 1976, with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting, Janice was a Financial Analyst with American Cyanamid.

Janice was a parishioner of the Church of St. Catharine, Holmdel, where she was active with Children’s Liturgy and Prayer Shawl Ministry. She taught for many years at the Church’s Preschool where she cherished her students and the lifelong friendships with her co-workers.

She loved spending time at the beach, especially Long Beach Island, where she spent many summers with her family and friends. Janice also enjoyed traveling and playing tennis.

Janice was predeceased by her parents John & Justine Matlag. Surviving is her husband Jim, her children Laura Chiapperino and her husband Mike, Staten Island and Matthew Ward, Holmdel, her sister & brother-in-law, Justine & Stu Altschuler, Fairlawn, her sisters-in-law, Jeanne Petric and husband Andre, and Elizabeth Ward and husband Martin. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation Monday September 11th, 4:00-8:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday, September 12th at Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.
