Jeanne Henningson, 88, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Jeanne was a resident of Hazlet for the past 52 years. She graduated from Maxwell High School as the Valedictorian and carried her intelligence, grace, and strong work ethic throughout her life.
Jeanne began her career as a secretary with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in New York, where she met the love of her life, Carl. With stars in their eyes and snow on the ground, they were married on December 14, 1963, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span more than six decades. Early in their marriage, Carl’s work led them abroad, where they lived in Holland and Belgium for seven years. During that time, they grew their family and created lifelong memories.
Upon returning to the United States, they settled in Hazlet, NJ, where Jeanne devoted herself to raising their four children. Once her children were grown, she began a second career as a Finance Manager with the Asbury Park Press, where she worked for 18 years until her retirement at age 70.
Jeanne lived a life centered on family, faith, and community. She was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Hazlet and was deeply involved in both the Hazlet Environmental Commission and the local Garden Club. She also served as a Girl Scout leader and shared her creativity as a summer camp art teacher. She had a passion for cooking and was especially known for her beloved lasagna, meatballs and rice pudding. Jeanne loved to travel, cherishing annual trips to St. Maarten and family vacations in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Together, Jeanne and Carl built a marriage rooted in devotion, partnership, and unwavering love. They dedicated their lives to their family, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and support. Their greatest accomplishment was the family they nurtured and the countless lives they touched. They opened their hearts not only to their children and grandchildren, but to many others who lovingly came to think of them as Mom and Dad.
Jeanne’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she helped raise and adored beyond measure. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and love that will continue through generations.
She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Susan Miranda Perini who was later widowed and remarried Michael Perini, and her sister and brother-in-law, Rosemarie and Attilio Carlopio.
Jeanne is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Carl T. Henningson Sr.; her children, Carl T. Henningson Jr. (Kristin), Debby Henningson, Karen Henningson (Howie Landsman), and Laura Henningson and her fiancé Vincenzo Rosa; and her cherished grandchildren, Brooke Attix, Krista Landsman, Alexa Landsman, Nicholas Attix, Liliana Henningson, Aurora Henningson, and Montgomery Henningson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 2000 Florence Avenue, Hazlet, NJ. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum 900 Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeanne’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, the ASPCA of Monmouth County, the Hazlet Environmental Commission.
Jeanne will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud and adoring grandmother, cherished sister and aunt, and a loyal friend. She was a woman whose life was defined by her strength, generosity, faith, and the deep love she gave so freely. What began as a beautiful love story over 60 years ago lives on in the family she cherished—her most treasured accomplishment. Her heart remains the foundation of the family she built.
