Jerome J. Berkowitz, 75, Ocean passed away Saturday May 20, 2017 at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Known as Jerry, he was born in Brooklyn, NY, but went on to call New Jersey his home, raising a family in West Long Branch before moving to Ocean Township. Jerry graduated from Rutgers College of Pharmacy. He was the owner and operator of Marlboro Mall Pharmacy, Marlboro, NJ and following its sale, worked as a retail pharmacist until retirement.
Jerry was a member of Congregation Torat El, Oakhurst; Monmouth Ocean Pharmaceutical Society; and the NJ Pharmaceutical Association. He was a collector of stamps and coins, had a great love of gardening and spending his summers amongst friends at the beach.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Barbara Siegler Berkowitz; his daughter Leah Scarpino, Mansfield, MA; his son Stuart Berkowitz, Los Angeles, CA; his brother & sister-in-law Robert and Diane Berkowitz, Neptune and his grandchildren Rachel and Mollie Scarpino.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 22nd at 11:00 am, at Congregation Torat El, 301 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ. Burial to follow at Beth El Cemetery, Neptune.
