Joan Bury, 88, of Port St. Lucie, Fl., and New Jersey, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 21^st.

Joan was born in Newark and raised in Hillside.  She worked as a bookkeeper for various companies throughout her career.  Joan and her husband of 49 years, Michael, raised their blended family in Union County before moving Monmouth County then Ocean County.  She and her husband became “snowbirds”, spending winters in Florida for over 30 years.

Joan enjoyed shopping, reading, going out to dinner and spending time with friends.  She had a passion for animals and volunteered at People For Animals in Hillside.  Joan’s true love was her family, especially her daughters.

Joan is predeceased by her husband, Michael.  Surviving are her daughters Patricia (Tricia) Byrnes & her husband Dennis and April Schneider; her stepsons Branford Bury & his wife Maria, Randy Bury & his wife Liz, and Lance Bury. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial, Thursday February 29, 10:00 am at St. Benedict’s RC Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel.  Entombment to follow in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to  Tunnel to Towers Foundation, https://t2t.org/
