John A. Sorrentino, Sr., 84, of Lakewood, formerly of West Long Branch, passed away Saturday, July 27th at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Johnny was born and raised in Long Branch, he lived in West Long Branch for over 30 years before moving to Lakewood in 2003. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in Korea. He returned home to open Johnny’s Garage on Morris Avenue in 1955, which he operated until his retirement 5 years ago. He was an exempt member of the Atlantic Engine Company of the Long Branch Fire Department. Johnny was a member of the IAMA, Long Branch and the West Long Branch Borough Men’s Club. He was an avid golfer and a long time member of Old Orchard Country Club, Eatontown. John was pre-deceased by his daughter, Doreen Sorrentino in 1992; his parents, Delia Tomaino and Anthony Sorrentino; sister, Elizabeth “Betty†Greenwood. Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years Lauretta Strollo Sorrentino; devoted son, John A. Sorrentino, Jr., Point Pleasant Beach; his beloved grandchildren, Madelyn and Jacob Sorrentino; his good friend and brother-in-law, Harry Greenwood; he was loving Uncle to , Bruce and Margaret Greenwood and their children, Ashley and Drew Greenwood; Donna and Vito Marra and their children, Michael and Jodi Marra, Elizabeth and Brian Dominick and Christina Marra; Richard and Diane Greenwood and their children Hannah and Jack Greenwood; a great great nephew, Christopher Dominick and a great great niece Addison Marra. Visitation Tuesday July 30th, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 31st, 11 am at the Funeral Home.
